Textbook Tedium

I haven't posted in quite a while, mainly because the last couple weeks have fluctuated between the extremes of utterly uneventful and slightly stressful.

Earlier this month, I started looking for my textbooks, which are going to cost a couple hundred dollars used.

Now, when it comes to buying textbooks, you have several options. You can buy them all from the college bookstore, where they sell mostly new books (way overpriced) but occasionally used; you can buy from Amazon or Ebay.com for somewhat cheaper, but most likely you won’t get the right edition unless you know the exact ISBN number. You can check out local bookstores, which might carry some of your books, but not your textbooks; or you can buy/trade/borrow from your friends.

After spending several hours crunching the numbers, I determined I could get the best price by buying 3 of my books from Amazon.com, the rest of them used (hopefully) from the EC bookstore, and then ask around at school to see if anyone has a couple of the other textbooks I need.

It’s kind of risky, but if it works, I’ll save a lot. Plus, I can sell back some of last semester’s books, which will pay for some of my new books.

So that’s one of the slightly stressful extremes I was talking about. As for the utterly uneventful, well, there just isn’t much to say about it.

Anywho, don’t forget to watch the presidential inauguration tomorrow!

And until next time,

Peace out.

About Andrea

Howdy! I am an environmental studies major and anthropology minor in the class of 2012. I love writing and anything outdoors ? hiking, biking, kayaking, bird watching, you name it. I am always up for adventure. I came to Eckerd College looking for a way to start my own life and make a difference in the world, and so far the experiences have been nothing short of amazing. I live by the rule that it is the journey, not the destination that counts and I look forward to facing each day with enthusiasm and an open mind.
